TEDsters and TEDxters form an open-minded community of thinkers and doers, ready to share their ideas with each other and to initiate discussion and action based on those ideas. TEDxDanubia would like to encourage and facilitate these activities by interconnecting various TEDxDanubia online community services.
Event Application Forms
The true backbone of the TEDxDanubia community experience is the personal participation in our events. Once you have registered and logged in to the website, the event application forms are displayed on each event’s program page. Please read the How Can You Attend? page for more information on participation.
Facebook
Facebook, the largest online community in history hardly needs any introduction by now. Please visit the TEDxDanubia Facebook fan page to join the most open communication channel of our events and of the activities of other TEDxsters. Do not hesitate to write in English, as almost all people on the TEDxDanubia pages speaks or understands English and would be ready to help you understand the Hungarian comments if you are lost in translation.
Sharing Videos and Other Content
Previous TEDxDanubia talks are recorded, translated, subtitled in English and made available through the Talks and Videos page of our website. The AddThis box embedded on the top of each page will help you share our content with users of almost 300 different online community and social media hubs. Talks and Videos will also be rated by one vote per video per user and can be freely commented in the forum topics related to each talk and speaker, Please register and log in to the TEDxDanubia website to use the latter two services.
Forum and Private Messaging
TEDxDanubia has set up its own independent forum accesible through this website after registration and login. We aim to protect our forum from noise, vulgarity and flames experienced in many other public forums. Our goal is to provide a powerful communication tool with flexible text formatting, quoting, image and video integration to serve as a discussion platform dedicated to our events as well as other TED and TEDx initiatives. The TEDxDanubia forum will show the full name of registered users, but will not display any contact details. Nevertheless, you may contact any fellow TEDxster through private messages. Yet, we kindly ask you to respect other users’ privacy and opinions while using either the open forum or the private messaging service.
Voting Module
Our voting module allows logged in users to vote for each TEDxDanubia talk and each content submitted by other users. You can vote only once for a given content item. We will really appreciate your using the voting module, since this will help us get a picture as to which talk, submitted idea or previous event has won or not won the public favor. Your votes through this website will effectively steer our future efforts of organizing TEDxDanubia events according to your tastes.
Suggesting Speakers, Links and Quotes
As implied above, we encourage every registered TEDxDanubia user to share their favorite speakers, quotes, thoughts, links with the community through this website. While other social media walls and online services often fail to stay focused on serious discussion and fall victim to the noise and blur of fun, family photos, music videos, etc. we would like to stay focused here. We aim to collect and organize valuable information and promising initiatives on this website and to make them accessible to all our registered users. We would like to preserve the streams of precious thoughts on TEDxDanubia.com in a form of an interactive and freely available online diary written by the entire TEDxter community.
Browsing Other Users’ Profiles
Similarly to TED.com, at the TEDxDanubia website registration, we ask you to write a short informal introduction of who you are and/or what is important to you, as well as to upload a profile picture and to enter three key areas of interests that you would like to talk about with fellow TEDxters. You will be able to edit these fields of your profile page anytime later. Remember, this information will facilitate discussion and making contacts both online and offline. Nonetheless, in order to prevent any privacy breaches, any contact details you enter on your profile page will remain hidden from other registered users, unless you give them out in a forum comment, private message or any other form.
Twitter
Follow us on Twitter, read TEDxDanubia related tweets. TEDxDanubia, similarly to other TED and TEDx events typically generate more tweets during live webcasts or directly before and after an event.
Live Webcasts
We will try to stream live webcasts of all our major TEDxDanubia events through this website. However, we emphasize that a webcast is not a real substitute for a personal TEDx experience packed with valuable learning, networking, friendships and conversations.
Chat
The live webcast also features a chat window, which allows registered users to discuss events realtime. The chat window displays real names of users to avoid spamming or flaming. The chat service will only be online during the actual webcasts, however if a larger number of TEDxDanubia.com users indicate interest in using a permanent chat service on this website, we will consider implementing such a solution.
